I Know Why I am Sick

18 May

As I am sitting in a hotel in Houston Tx. waiting to see the Dr. at MD Anderson it seems as though my life has been put on hold. For six months I have been dealing with this. The things I want to do I cannot do for I am greatly limited to this illness. In the meantime, the Dr’s seem to be absolutely perplexed as to what is going on and have yet to say what they are going to do about it. I’m not one to sit around feeling sorry for myself. Nor, do I want anyone else to. That is not the purpose of this writing. I am also not one to sit around and wonder why me. I know beyond any shadow a doubt that I am going to be okay. God has this! Although the Dr’s don’t fully know what’s going on with my body He does. And, though I don’t know what this sickness is, I know what the root of it is. The root is sin. Not any particular sin but sin itself is the root of all sickness and suffering in this world. The righteous and unrighteous alike suffer from it awful effects.

If people truly understood how detrimental sin was they would do all they could to get it out of their lives. When one gets sick he will travel all over the world spending thousands of dollars just to be well again. While not all sickness leads to death, the bible is clear that sin always leads to death. (Romans 6:23). Fortunately for us we don’t have to travel all over the world or spend thousands of dollars to have sin removed from our lives. Jesus died for our sins so that the sinner would be saved and the unrighteous would become righteous. The bible tells us in I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Although there is not always a cure for sickness there is a 100% cure for sin and His name is Jesus.

I am not writing this to draw attention to my sickness. Rather, I wrote this to draw attention to sin. If you have sin in your life turn away from it and trust in Jesus who died an awful death for that sin.
