Great is Thy Faithfulness: Song and Devotional

Great is Thy Faithfulness

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.” Lamentation 3:22-24

One of the most assured truths in all of scripture is the faithfulness of God. He is the Epidemy of faithfulness. With this truth in mind, we should be reminded that God owes us nothing, yet He is faithful. He is the almighty creator whereas the earth is the Lord’s and all therein, yet He chooses to be faithful to us. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s, who is worthy of all surrender and service, yet He is faithful to His servants.

Why is God faithful? Because of His steadfast love that never ceases. God loves us with an incomprehensible love. Those who know Him know His love and know His faithfulness. Those who know Him know that The Lord indeed is their portion.

God is faithful even when we are faithless. He is faithfully there to draw His children back into right relationship, for He chastises those of whom He loves; He is faithful. His love and faithfulness move those who love Him unto faithfulness. Apart from God’s faithfulness to pursue us and draw us unto Himself, we would never have the slightest desire to know Him, much less live for Him. He is faithful.

Even when the world has turned its back on you and all have forsaken you, He is faithful. Even when all that you’ve trusted in crumbles around you, He is faithful. Therefore, I will hope in Him. And, yes, we can rebel against Him and His faithfulness but then we would never know how great is His faithfulness.
